Chris Taus started Taus Fine Woodworking in 1997, in his garage in Venice California. The projects were small custom cabinets and handmade pieces of furniture.  Quickly the projects became larger in scope and detail… Custom homes filled with cabinets and furniture ranging from Modern European Style with sequenced bookmatched veneers, to Traditional Face Frame Cabinetry with architectural moldings. Furniture began to also range from Dressers and Bed Frames to Chairs and Dining Tables from reclaimed timbers.

In order to meet the growing demand for his work, in 2008 Chris added CNC (Computer Numerical Control) technology to speed up production without sacrificing the quality he had come to be known for. “This marriage between handmade work and the use of modern equipment and technology has been crucial for our growth.”

At Taus Fine Woodworking everything is made in house… Dovetailed drawers, raised panel doors, mortise and tenon furniture… This allows for a completely custom product.

“Every project is a new challenge. I find being able to collaborate with Architects, Designers, General Contractors, and Homeowners on a vision and then actually build it with my hands is a process I really enjoy.
